TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Local school systems are closing in anticipation of Tropical Storm Elsa. We are compiling a working list of closures which you can see below.
Pinellas County Schools
Schools in Pinellas County will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday during Tropical Storm Elsa’s journey through the Tampa Bay area.
Summer school programs, after-school child care and other school-related activities will also be canceled.
The neighborhood is expected to be fully open on Thursday. Meanwhile, Pinellas County Schools are working with Pinellas County Emergency Management to monitor the impact of Tropical Storm Elsa on the region.
Manatee County School District
The schools were already closed since the summer school is not in session this week. The Manatee County School District will release updates on employee work status and the summer feeding program over the next few days on Monday.
Hernando schools and their district offices will be open on Tuesday.
The district’s mobile and school summer programs will also work.
Hernando schools will decide on Tuesday whether they remain open on Wednesday.
Sarasota County Schools
Schools and district offices are closed all week.
Citrus County School District
The Citrus County School District is monitoring the situation and said the summer school could be affected by Elsa on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The district will notify parents by phone and SMS if or when classes will be canceled. They will also make the announcement online.
Pasco County Schools
Schools in Pasco County closed their PLACE programs as scheduled on Monday. Updates on potential closures will be provided as the situation evolves.
Hardee County School District
The Hardee County School District will close on Tuesday. He will make a decision on Tuesday at 3 p.m. on whether or not to reopen on Wednesday.
