BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Rolling Thunder Florida Chapter 1 will raise the final three POW / MIA flags at three Brevard Public School campuses – Jackson, Pinewood and Mims – on Tuesday, May 11.

“As part of a joint initiative between the school district and Rolling Thunder, a POW / MIA flag has been raised and will continue to fly on all BPS campuses,” Brevard public school officials said in a statement.

From the Viera district office on December 15, 2020, Rolling Thunder and its partners have spent the past five months completing flag raising ceremonies at 86 different schools.

“Each school and ceremony has been a wonderful and different experience, including various groups of students,” said Brevard public school officials.

Elementary security patrols, musical ensembles, JROTC programs, humanities classes, student government leaders and more helped make the event a success on every school campus.

“School board leaders, community partners, local veterans organizations, law enforcement and others we always want to support,” BPS officials said.

“During this difficult year for everyone, every school said that time spent raising the POW / MIA flag and learning more about it, was one of the bright spots.”
