Several positive COVID-19 cases reported among students and staff at North Central West Virginia on Monday | WV News

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) – After working with officials from the local health department, school systems in the region have identified cases of COVID-19 in schools involving students and staff during on weekends and until Monday evening.

Harrison County Schools confirmed 13 new cases of COVID-19 involving students from May 20 to 24.

The identified cases included a student at Simpson Elementary School, a student at Mountaineer Middle School, a student at Lincoln Middle School, two students at Washington Irving Middle School, a student at Liberty High School, a student at United High School, three students of the South. Harrison High School and three students from Robert C. Byrd High School.

Also on Monday, schools in Monongalia County reported COVID-19 numbers for the week of May 17-23.

According to its report, six students and three staff tested positive last week, and 114 students and four staff were quarantined.

In Marion County, a positive case of COVID-19 involving a student at North Marion High School was reported over the weekend.

As of 6:30 p.m. as of Monday, no additional school systems had reported cases of COVID-19 involving staff or students.
